This afternoon, Foreign Secretary David Lammy met with the Chief Rabbi.
The Chief Rabbi posted on X, stating that the pair discussed the “imminent and vast threats facing Israel across the Middle East, UK Government decisions relating to the conflict, the urgent importance of freeing the hostages, achieving long term peace, and the deep impact of the war in this country”.
Thanking the Chief Rabbi, also on X, the Foreign Secretary stated that the government “will work together to stand up for the Jewish community, combat antisemitism, and promote Holocaust remembrance. This government will continue to press for peace and stability in the Middle East, a ceasefire in Gaza and release of all hostages”.
