At Labour party conference we were delighted to be joined by Yair Golan, leader of Labour’s sister party – newly renamed the Democrats – for two days at conference this year as LFI’s guest.
During his time in Liverpool, Golan met with senior ministers, Labour parliamentarians and Labour Party officials, including Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Middle East Minister Hamish Falconer and Labour General Secretary David Evans.
Yair Golan posted on X, that he “had a very good meeting with the British Foreign Secretary, David Lammy. Britain understands well trhe security-political complexity of Israel, and will fully and actively support any chance of a hostage release deal, which will bring security and rehabilitation.”
He “emphasised to the foreign minister, his assesment that the hostage release deal is the engine for any positive development in the south and the north. We also discussed the conditiosn necessary to remove the restrictipons imposed by the British government on the export of defense weapons.
I found in his words a great sensitivity and a sincere desire to reach the release of the kidknapped and support the security of the State of Israel.”
