LFI vice-chair Catherine McKinnell has secured a debate in parliament on UK support for coexistence projects through an international fund for Israeli-Palestinian Peace. This is the next stage in LFI’s long-running campaign in support of those NGOs that bring ordinary Israelis and Palestinians together in the spirit of peaceful coexistence. They are vital in fostering the values of coexistence, peace and reconciliation between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples which will be required if a future settlement is to be sustainable.

The debate will take place in Westminster Hall on Tuesday 17th November at 14.30-16.00. You will be able to watch it live on Parliamentlive.tv.

It comes at a time of growing international support for the concept of the creation of an international fund, most notably through a $250m fund that is being advanced through Congress.

The UK government ended all support for coexistence projects ended in March 2020. Prior to the launch of LFI’s campaign, the UK was spending nothing on coexistence, but, thanks to LFI’s efforts, £3m was allocated over three years in 2017.
