At today’s Commons statement on antisemitism in the UK, shadow home secretary and LFI parliamentary supporter Yvette Cooper MP echoed LFI’s warnings around the huge increase in antisemitism that has been recorded in the UK since 7 October.
“It is unconscionable that one of the steepest surges in antisemitism came in the week following Hamas’ barbaric terrorist attack on Israel on 7 October”, she said, condemning the huge spike in antisemitic incidents recorded by the Community Security Trust.
She went on to echo LFI chair Steve McCabe MP’s warnings around loopholes in the law which “allow toxic and antisemitic views and conspiracies to be spread”.
