The UK government has today confirmed its continued opposition to institutional anti-Israel bias at the UN Human Rights Council.

During her statement at the Interactive Dialogue with the High Commissioner on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, UK Human Rights Ambassador Eleanor Sanders said: “the UK is opposed to the existence of item 7. The UK wants to see all countries face appropriate scrutiny of their human rights record but opposes the disproportionate focus of this item.”

Agenda Item 7 represents a permanent agenda item about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at meetings of the UN Human Rights Council, the only such example of one part of the world being singled out via at the UN.
